Gold, Dragons & Steam Trading Cards!

Steam Trading cards are now available for Beat Hazard on Steam. Cards are dropped at random while you play the game.

These are the 7 Beat Hazard cards you can collect. However, there is a catch. You can only get 4 of the cards by playing the game. To get the others you must trade surplus cards with other players that have the ones you don't. By trading you can complete the set.

Once you have a set, you can 'craft' these into a badge. You start with a level 1 badge and work your way up to level 5.

And this is where things go full circle. When you get a level 1 badge you will unlock the Mini Gold Ship.

Get a Level 5 Badge and you will unlock the all new Dragon Ship!

Note: The new ships are cosmetic only. They won't give you a score advantage if you use them.

You may want to revise the post a bit to acknowledge the fact that you can craft a foil badge without having crafted the other 5 levels first.

At least, as far as I know, that's the case.

The foil badges are separate from the 5 tier normal badges, and they only have one level.

I am very OK with this. Glad I got the gold ship way back, since getting badges without indulging the Market is daunting for me.

Relatedly, Flying Hamster HD has a similar in-game reward for external accomplishments: for every trophy achieved, the play gets an extra credit ("life"/"try"). Love seeing gameplay benefits from the metagames.

At first the dragon ship gave 10% score advantage,but later that was changed.Personally i think people that craft the foil badge should get some advantage cause crafting a foil is very expensive.Even more expensive then the game itself.Considering you maybe (if you're lucky) get one foil card from the game you have to buy the rest of 6 foil cards which is pretty expensive.So getting 10% score advantage seems fair.
