Hey there. Welcome to my FAQ page. Here you can find answers to the most common questions I get asked. I've split them into groups with game support being the first as this is the most important. Feel free to contact me here if you can't find what you're looking for. Enjoy!
The Xbox version crashes when I press 'A' on the Cold Beam screen
If you hold both triggers down as you press 'A' it should avoid the crash. Sorry for the odd work around. It was an experiment to fix this issue as I could never reproduce it myself. It relates to a timing issue between the game and PC streaming system. I will endeavour to put in a proper fix soon.
Help, I'm having problems running Beat Hazard on PC
This is normally down to a file having some very odd tags (Or files with % in the name). I've fixed most of these but some still sneak though. You can Index a sub folder at a time to avoid this, or if you have fast eyes you should be able to see which track is being indexed just before it crashes.
If none of this helps you can set up the game to output a debug file. This should tell you the exact track that causes the crash. See here on how to set up a debug file. If you do find a track that crashes the game, feel free to send it me so I can debug it and look for a fix.
I can't play iTunes files!
The game can't play older iTunes files that have DRM protection on them. These will have a .m4p extension as opposed to a .aac or .m4a extension. The game may also display a DRM error even when the can't read the file for other reasons (e.g. a bad file format or damaged file) Again, feel free to send me problematic files so I can check them out.
Will there be an Android version of Beat Hazard Ultra?
Not at the moment I'm afraid. Unfortunately, Sony hardware, software, submission, testing and ratings procedures are just to difficult and expensive to work with. (If anyone from Sony is reading this, feel free to ask for more details) If this changes in the future I'd love to make a Vita version.
Will there be a Beat Hazard 2?
Definitely yes! I have some great ideas to take the game to the next level. I also have some cool ideas for music driven games in other genres which I'm really excited about. I'm currently pondering which ideas to pursue first.
Did you really make this game on your own?
Indeed I did! All written from a spare bedroom at home. I'm about as Indie as you can get! The Xbox, PC & PS3 version were all written solo by me. My good friends at D3T did the engine conversation for the Mac, iOS & Android version of the game.
Can I monetize Beat Hazard footage on YouTube?
Yes, sure. Under the condition that you let the viewer know what game it is and where they can buy it. (e.g. Link to the 'Buy' page on my website) - Thanks!
